Description
White metal Eagle with brass Sun Burst with attaching loops on the back.
In 1833, trouble with the Indians on the distant northwest frontier returned the Dragoons to the regular establishment for the first time since 1815. Close attention was paid to their outfits because of the importance placed on impressing their enemies. New headdress and insignia was prescribed. The insignia prescribed for the Dragoons’ 1833 dress caps marked a dramatic departure from anything previously seen in America. A large Napoleonic eagle, made of white metal, was superimposed over an octagonal brass sun burst background
