Aluminum I.D. disk very similar to ones sold by sutlers during the middle to later half of the war. The problem of not being able to ID bodies after a major battle was a great concern to both families and soldiers alike. Some sutlers decided to offer the men, at a cost, metal I.D. tags that they would have their name and unit stamped upon to make it easy to mark the graves of the fallen. Our reproduction tags ship blank for the wearer to customize how they would like. They are made of aluminum which at this time period was more precious than silver or gold. Comes with a length of twine, which is adjustable, to wear around the neck.
