Description
This handkerchief was recently acquired as part of South Union Mills collection, and belonged to Corporal Cyrus Dennis of the 1st Maryland “Potomac Home Brigade” Cavalry. It was acquired along with Dennis’ Bible that was carried by him during the war. The Potomac Home Brigade of cavalry participated in numerous campaigns in the northern Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania region; including Harper’s Ferry, Gettysburg, Falling Waters, Kernstown, Winchester, Fisher’s Hill, and Cedar Creek. This handkerchief is a very large 29×29 inches and is made from 100% cotton. The design is printed in a pleasing red. The original handkerchief had been split diagonally down the middle and hand hemmed along the cut edge. A great piece of history in your pocket!
