Eagle ‘I’ (Infantry) Button

Brass-US Infantry Officer buttons. These are the correct Civil War style with the flat shield and “I”. As per U.S. Army Regulation 1464: “For Officers of Artillery, Infantry, and Calvary–gilt, convex; device, a spread eagle with the letter A, for Artillery–I, for Infantry– C, for Cavalry, on the shield; large size, seven-eighths of an inch in exterior diameter; small size, one-half inch”. These buttons were sometimes purchased by the men and used on enlisted uniforms as well. Numbers of this type are also found on Confederate officer and enlisted uniforms. Available in sizes Small or Large
