Description

Brass simulating embroidered cloth. Non regulation insignia sold by period sutlers, catalogs, and military dealers, most commonly used by officers. Crossed sabers were originally worn by dragoon officers in 1851 on the dress cap (shako) and continued to be used by cavalry units throughout the history of the U.S. Army. This insignia may have been intended for officers, but there are many examples of the various metallic, false-embroidered branch insignia being worn my enlisted men.

Available in Large, approximately 3-1/2″ wide x 1-5/8″ high (slouch hat) and Small, approximately 2″ wide x 1-1/2″ high (kepi) sizes. Made from stamped brass with soldered brass wire hooks for attaching to hats or other items. Made in the U.S.A.
