M1840 Artillery Enlisted Saber

Description

In 1840 the War Department adopted a second saber based upon a French pattern for the light artillery companies of the regular artillery regiments. A handsome and essentially serviceable weapon, it remained regulation issue for light artillery for approximately 50 years. Overall length is 37 1/4″ and the blade length is 31 6/8″.
