Original M1809 Potsdam Bayonet

Description

This is an original M1809 socket bayonet for use with the .72cal musket of the same name. These muskets were used during the American Civil War due to the lack of rifled muskets available to both sides. Blade surfaces exhibits pitting and a mottled grey patina. Bayonet neck is stamped with “63..” Bayonet blade measures 18-3/4″, total length 22-3/4″.
