Original M1855 “Collins & Co’ Springfield Bayonet

Description

This accoutrement is an original Civil War socket bayonet made by the Collins & Company of Collinsville, CT to fit the Model 1855 Rifle. Bayonet’s lines are simple and direct as the bayonet was primarily intended for issue to the Federal infantryman. Maker’s mark “C&Co” is visible on the socket. Blade surfaces exhibit areas of dark oxidation but very little pitting.
