Original M1861 Lock Plate, Savage R.F.A. Co. Manufacture, dated 1863

Description

M1861 Springfield lock plate, dated 1864 by Savage Revolving Fire Arms Co. There is the eagle on the lock plate with U.S. underneath, 1863 date on the lock plate as well. Nice example of a contractor-made plate. Savage R.F.A. Co. was assigned the contract originally held by Parker; Snow & Co. Savage R.F.A. Co. produced around 25,250 of this lockplate at their Middletown, CT plant. This is an original piece that may or may not fit reproduction muskets.
