This (Custer) first model 1873, Type 1 original hammer with coarse checkering is in very good functional condition. This style was used on trapdoors under serial number 44,000.

These Custer period hammers are very difficult to locate.

This hammer will fit and function on any Springfield 45-70 Trapdoor. It will fit all Models including 1873, 1877, 1878, 1879, 1884, 1888 Springfield Carbines, Rifles and Cadets.
