Description
Base spring is not present in sight. In order to be fully functional it would require a base spring. Base springs can be switched from sight to sight or made from spring steel.
This is an original Springfield First Model 1873 “Custer” period 45-70 Trapdoor rear sight.
It is in fine Condition with Deep clear marking. The base is marked with an 4 for Rifle. The ladder has 11 elevations on the ladder for rifle. The ladder flips up easily (No Spring present) and the elevation slide works perfect. This is an original Springfield early 1873 CUSTER first Model 1873 45-70 Trapdoor rear sight. It was designed for the rifle or cadet. It will also fit all Models including 1873, 1878, 1879, 1884, 1888 Springfield Rifles and Cadets.
Use mounting screws (ORI-332) for this sight.
