The kepi, based on the contemporary French kepi, is most often associated with the America Civil War era and continued into the Indian Wars. Union Officers were generally issued kepis for fatigue use. The kepi was also popular with various state units and as privately purchased headgear. It is similar to the Model 1858 “Forage” cap except with a much shorter crown. This style of cap was much more commonly seen among Confederates than was the M1858 “forage” cap. Many Northern states and militias issued kepis, as the were seen as presenting a more military appearance and were commonly obtained by the soldiers themselves.
Available in small, medium, large, extra large and 2X-large.
