This is an Original early first type Springfield 45-70 Carbine or rifle Butt Plate. It is the type of butt plate, with the reinforcing rib, that was used on the Custer period carbines and rifles. Excellent Plus Condition with deep clear US marking, nice sharp edges and lots of bluing. It would be difficult to find on in better condition.

This is an original Springfield Model 1873 45-70 Trapdoor Butt Plate. It was designed for the early Model 1873 rifle or carbine. It will also fit and function perfect on all Models including 1873, 1877, 1878, 1879, 1884 Springfield Rifles and Carbines.
