Description
Base spring is not present in sight. The ladder has enough friction to stay at any position. In order to be fully functional it would require a base spring. Base springs can be switched from sight to sight or made from spring steel.
This is an original Springfield Model 1877 with NO Steps on the base, 45-70 Trapdoor rear sight.
It is in fine Condition with clear marking. The base is marked with an R for Rifle. The ladder has 11 elevations on the ladder for rifle. The ladder flips up easily (No Spring present) and the elevation slide works. This is an original Springfield SECOND TYPE Model 1877 45-70 Trapdoor rear sight. It was designed for the rifle or cadet. It will also fit all Models including 1873, 1878, 1879, 1884, 1888 Springfield Rifles and Cadets.
Use mounting screws (ORI-332) for this sight.
